As wedding bells draw closer, Anshula Kapoor‘s pre-wedding celebrations have officially begun. Snippets from the festivities offer a glimpse into what promises to be one of Bollywood’s most heartwarming family weddings of the season. Anshula, entrepreneur, content creator and the daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and the late Mona Shourie Kapoor, is gearing up to marry her longtime partner, screenwriter and director Rohan Thakkar. The couple met on a dating app in 2022 and dated for close to three years before Rohan got down on one knee in front of the castle at New York’s Central Park in July 2025. Anshula announced the proposal on Instagram, and the two formalised their engagement with a traditional Gor Dhana ceremony that October, surrounded by family.
A countdown to “I do”
The wedding is set for July 6 in Mumbai, marking the start of married life for the bride-to-be, who is also known for her appearance on the reality show The Traitors. As with most Kapoor family celebrations, the lead-up is shaping up to be an intimate but star-studded affair, with the household pulling together for a series of rituals before the big day. The wedding preparations have reportedly been underway for months, with brother Arjun Kapoor playing an active role in the planning alongside the bride-to-be.
The celebrations begin on an auspicious note
The festivities kicked off on Sunday with a Mata Ki Chowki, the spiritual, auspicious ceremony that traditionally marks the first of the pre-wedding rituals in many North Indian households. The venue was done up with flowers around an idol of Goddess Durga, setting a devotional tone before the evening gave way to music and dancing. Anshula and Rohan were seen seeking blessings together, performing aarti before the deity, and bowing before elders. The rest of the gathering broke into joyful dancing as the celebrations went on late into the night. The mood across the photos and videos shared by family was warm and colourful, equal parts prayer and party, true to form for a Kapoor wedding. From emotional family moments to energetic dance performances, the celebrations reflected the warmth and closeness of the Kapoor clan, setting the tone for the wedding celebrations ahead.
A bridal look rooted in heritage

For the occasion, Anshula chose a bespoke couture creation by ITRH, dreamed up by designers Ridhi Bansal and Mohit Rai. Crafted in luminous shades of gold, the lehenga showcases Banarasi silk tissue brocades enhanced with handcrafted ghungroo, zardosi, mirror and polki embroidery. A bejewelled high-neck blouse adorned with intricate antique-finish embellishments including dabka, badla, gota, moti and ghungroo work added regal appeal. A soft gold tissue dupatta completed the look. The standout element, however, is an exquisitely handcrafted Phulkari dupatta that introduced a vibrant burst of colour and heritage against the gold palette. “Wearing a Phulkari dupatta felt especially meaningful for the occasion. Deeply rooted in Punjabi tradition, it is a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and blessings passed down through generations of women. For Punjabi brides, Phulkari has long been part of life’s most meaningful milestones, and I couldn’t think of a more fitting way to begin this new chapter with Ro,” shared Anshula.
Jewels and personal touches

The bride-to-be didn’t hold back when it came to accessorising the ensemble. She went with ornate traditional jewellery from Khurana Jewellery House and a striking hair accessory from Shree Raj Jewellers. A statement bag from Meera Mahadevia rounded it off, creating a look that balanced cultural storytelling with contemporary bridal elegance. Her groom-to-be complemented her in a red kurta set layered with a dupatta that matched the red tones on her Phulkari dupatta.
The Kapoor clan turns out in style
Naturally, the guest list was a glamorous family affair. Brother Arjun Kapoor was present throughout, dressed in a red striped kurta for the occasion. Cousins Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor and Shanaya Kapoor arrived dressed in their festive finery. Janhvi embraced timeless elegance in a handwoven pink sari and a brocade blouse, Khushi opted for a pastel Tarun Tahiliani sharara and Shanaya kept things understated in a white Sureena Chowdhri kurta set. Together, the Kapoor cousins brought plenty of style and revelry to the festivities, as they were spotted dancing and laughing.
