Actor Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, fondly known as Kanchi and best known for her work in Guilty, married filmmaker Sharan Sharma, the director behind Mr. & Mrs. Mahi and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, got married on July 11, 2026. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the bride’s family home in Mumbai. Keeping true to their low-key personalities, the couple chose a private celebration attended by close family and a tight-knit circle of friends instead of a grand celebrity affair. The emotional ceremony unfolded beneath floral canopies in the home’s garden, with traditional rituals, heartfelt vows and candid moments. The celebrations continued with a glamorous reception at JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu the following evening.
Akansha and Sharan’s love story

Like their wedding, Akansha and Sharan’s romance blossomed away from the public eye. The pair reportedly began dating in 2022 after being introduced through mutual friends and kept their relationship under wraps for several months before making occasional public appearances together. Despite working in the same industry, they largely chose privacy over headlines, often travelling together and rarely speaking about their relationship.

In a poetic coincidence, the couple exchanged vows on the very date they had begun dating four years earlier. Akansha’s heartfelt Instagram note after the ceremony, “Tu na toh ghar ghar nahi lagta, tu hai toh darr nahi lagta,” perfectly captured the intimacy and sincerity that defined their love story.
The wedding wardrobe

For the ceremony, Akansha gave a lehenga a rain check, instead opting for a classic sari. She chose a classic custom red Arpita Mehta drape. She wore a rich vermilion red sari intricately woven with gold zari and aari work. Her look was paired with an exquisitely embellished blouse, featuring the designer’s signature mirror work. Celebrity stylist Ami Patel completed her look with traditional polki bridal jewellery, including an ornate choker, a maang tikka, stud earrings with kaan phool, kaleeras, red choora and delicate haathphools from Fine Finery Store. Soft makeup and a half-up, half-down hairdo made for her bridal beauty choices.

Sharan complemented her in an ivory kurta set layered with a bundi, allowing his bride’s vibrant palette to remain the focal point.
The guest list
The guest list may have been intimate, but it was every bit as stylish as expected from one of Bollywood’s closest friend circles. Akansha’s sister Anushka Ranjan and brother-in-law Aditya Seal were with the bride throughout. Akansha’s childhood friend Alia Bhatt attended the wedding in a teal tissue sari, while Vaani Kapoor brought effortless glamour in an ivory lehenga. Ranbir Kapoor and Athiya Shetty were among the familiar faces who joined the celebrations. The festivities were filled with laughter, emotional embraces and energetic dancing, with videos of Alia lighting up the dance floor during the wedding celebrations quickly making the rounds on social media, adding another joyful chapter to the festivities.
The wedding décor by Taral Jhadav behind Do It Up embraced understated elegance, transforming the intimate space with draped ivory canopies, cascading foliage, an all-white floral palette, crystal chandeliers and hundreds of flickering candles. From the flower-laden altar to the beautifully curated tablescapes, every detail reflected a refined, timeless aesthetic that let romance take centre stage.
The star-studded wedding reception
The celebrations concluded with a glittering reception yesterday at JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, where the mood shifted from intimate to high glamour. Akansha changed into a sculptural gold Gaurav Gupta lehenga featuring the couturier’s signature molten crystal detailing and a dramatic cape, offering a striking contrast to her traditional wedding look. The reception drew an even larger gathering of Bollywood names including Bobby Deol, Janhvi Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Jackie Shroff, Randeep Hooda and Neena Gupta, as friends and family came together to toast the newlyweds. While the evening sparkled with couture, celebrity style and grand celebrations, it was the authenticity of the couple’s romance and personal wedding that remained the true highlight of the weekend.
