8 Heirloom-Worthy Zuria Dor Wedding Couture Worn By Real Brides

The incredibly intricate workmanship on every bridal outfit holds the wearer and beholder hostage to Zuria Dor’s story. The digital-first, appointment-based brand was founded by dynamic sister-duo Madiha Latif and Kinza Latif, who are old-school when it comes to preserving heritage crafts, yet gallant enough to tweak tradition with reimagined silhouettes. Spanning the range of bridals, pret, formals and festive, Zuria Dor’s exquisite ensembles bring together a kaleidoscope of tones and techniques, often times in one garment, at the hands of skilled artisans. Think an array of colours, an assortment of pure fabrics along with a conglomeration of classic and contemporary crafts like resham, aari, zardozi, pearl embroidery and sequin work.

Zuria Dor’s wedding confections, from lehengas and gowns to saris and shararas, are crafted for the bride who yearns for the nostalgia of the bygone era, but walks confidently into the future. “The Zuria Dor bride is self-confident, modern, ambitious, flamboyant and independent,” reveals the designer duo. Over the years, real brides from different parts of the world, different cultures and backgrounds have encapsulated this ethos perfectly in exquisite creations from the label. Their wedding looks are repositories of love, beauty, emotions, and culture that’s passed down generations.

Pastel perfection

Call bride Anika Ullah’s nikaah look is a love letter to old-school bridal traditions, modern finesse as well as exquisite artistry from Pakistan. In a serene ivory shade, her breathtaking custom Zuria Dor pishwas took over 1,800 hours to create. The rich silk canvas was meticulously elevated with a cacophony of hand-embroideries and hand embellishments such as zardozi, sequin and aari work. A complementing veil with the same crafts and a kiran border made it both ethereal and resplendent.

The royal affair

Bride Mannal is a personification of understated elegance in this look. Called Róża, her plum lehenga is brought to life with thread work, zardozi, sequin, and pearl detailing as an embellished floral border and motif detailing. The same work is mirrored on the sleeves and neckline. The look is completed with an organza dupatta adorned with intricate zardozi work.

All blushed up

The muted blush shade of bride Sohni’s outfit takes a backseat, but the meticulous workmanship allows her look the falsetto it demands. Her Siara lehenga is cut using a weightless silk organza and enhanced with a plethora of crafts such as mokaish, sequins, thread-work, pearls, and zardozi work. She rounded it off with a net shawl with heavily worked borders.

Golden galore

For her nikaah, bride Nuha is a vision in gold. Her custom Lena lehenga unravels a beautiful fusion of luxury and laid-back glamour. The shirt is cut with wispy organza, while heaps of tissue was used to create the voluminous skirt. The metallic piece is lavishly adorned with zardozi and gota detailing. The outfit is paired with a dupatta with sequin and gota spray.

Snow white

Bride Amna’s Zara Janjua white gown is the perfect inspiration for those seeking a balance of traditional appeal and contemporary finesse. The floor-length masterpiece is made using fine net and features a 3.5ft train. Adding more drama is the 5ft cathedral-style veil with a scalloped hem. The outfit’s surface ornamentation—zardozi, sequins, pearls and crystal work—creates a multi-dimensional brilliance.

Colour story

Holding onto the integrity of a regal pishwas is bride Mariam H Kabir’s Avana Neue dusty pink look. A true labour of love and artistry, it is heavily embellished in zardozi, mokaish, sequin, pearl and pastel thread work. The pishwas is combined with a sharara made of pink tissue featuring multiple intricately hand-embellished and hand-embroidered borders and a silk organza scalloped dupatta.

Bespoke beauty

From the heritage crafts to modern colour, bride Zara’s bespoke Zuria Dor look is an amalgam of tradition and modernity. In a stunning peach shade and impeccably constructed, the bridal piece weaves together different floral motifs, intricately done with thread, sequin and pearl work that glisten as it catches the light. It is styled with a veil with a dramatic trail, doffing its hat to effortless grace.

Black magic

Bride Annie Gill Dhillon went against the grain for her pre-wedding ceremony in Europe in an ebony set by Zuria Dor. The pared-down yet glamorous look comprises a diaphanous silk organza skirt with linear fabric detailing on the hem and a one-sleeved asymmetric blouse with a pagoda shoulder. The blouse is embellished with two-toned, asymmetric sequin detailing.
