Meet Cupcake Productions: The Wedding Photographers Capturing Celebrations With Elegance & Emotion

Some photographers choose their calling. Shruti Khanna and Jayant Chhabra were chosen by it. The husband-and-wife duo behind Cupcake Productions didn’t begin with a blueprint to dominate the wedding photography world. “Our journey began organically,” says Jayant. “It was about a curiosity for people, emotions, and storytelling. Weddings just happened to be the most beautiful intersection of all of that,” he adds.

What started as instinct soon evolved into one of the most sought-after names in luxury wedding photography. Their work is rooted in observation rather than orchestration. Over time, their lens has travelled as much as their ideas, taking them from intimate beach weddings in Goa to opulent celebrations in Dubai, sun-soaked ceremonies in Bali, and destination weddings across Europe. Each location has added a new layer to their visual language, making their storytelling globally aware and deeply personal.

With headquarters in New Delhi and London, they have documented weddings across Asia, Middle East and Europe. Today, working across continents and cultures, Cupcake Productions crafts immersive wedding stories that balance scale with intimacy and poise with poetry.

A Signature Without Limits

Shruti Khanna & Jayant Chhabra

“I’d describe our approach as deeply intuitive and effortlessly versatile,” Shruti says. Whether the brief calls for an intimate gathering in a riad or a grand Rajasthani palace at dusk, Cupcake Productions meets every scale with the same intent. “We don’t limit ourselves to one visual language,” she adds. “We adapt, elevate, and transform every setting and every emotion into a cohesive, cinematic story.”

Their approach begins well before the wedding day. “It always starts with listening,” they say, emphasising conversations that go beyond logistics. Rather than relying on rigid shot lists, they focus on building an emotional understanding of the couple. “We create a mental map of their story,” they explain. On ground, intuition leads the way. “We stay present and allow moments to unfold naturally, rather than directing too much.”

Destination With Intention

Shooting across geographies has shaped their adaptability. “Every place has its own rhythm. We try to absorb that.” From light to rituals, their process remains fluid. “The goal is to let the location and the couple coexist naturally.”

Star-Studded Lens

Shruti and Jayant’s work reflects a rare cultural fluency shaped by years of shooting across cultures and cities. “We absorb the energy of a place rather than impose a fixed style,” they explain, allowing each setting to influence the story. This sensitivity has extended seamlessly to their high-profile clientele.

From Allu Sirish and Nayanika Reddy to Shikhar Dhawan and Sophie Shine, and Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram, their approach remains consistent. “Every wedding, celebrity or not, is treated with the same emotional honesty.”

Tips & Tricks: The Art of Letting Go

Time Management

One of the most common mistakes couples make is underestimating time. “Weddings can get rushed, and photography often suffers because of tight schedules,” Shruti shares, emphasising how even the most well-planned celebrations can feel chaotic without breathing room. Building buffer time into your schedule allows for spontaneity, softer transitions, and moments that don’t feel forced. That unhurried gap between the pheras and family photographs is where some of the best unposed frames happen. “Giving yourself breathing space in the timeline makes a huge difference and gives phenomenal results.”

Shot Lists

They also advise moving away from overly rigid shot lists. When couples focus on being present instead of performing for the camera, the experience feels richer and the imagery far more meaningful. Approach your wedding photography the way a director approaches a film with a story in mind, not a checklist, encourages Jayant. “We don’t just curate pretty pictures. We curate a narrative. Trusting your photographers to interpret moments can often lead to more meaningful results.”

What’s Changing Now

Trends 2026

There is a noticeable shift in how weddings are being documented today. “Less posed, more real,” they say, highlighting the growing preference for documentary-style storytelling that prioritises authenticity over perfection. Imperfection is no longer edited out but embraced as part of the narrative.

“Motion blur, grain, unconventional framing make images feel alive and less manufactured.” At the same time, a noticeable shift is towards smaller, more intentional weddings. “Intimate gatherings bring emotional depth. These celebrations allow for richer storytelling and stronger personal narratives.”

Core Philosophy

At its core, their philosophy remains unchanged. “Photography is less about perfection and more about honesty.” The aim is not just to document a wedding, but to create something that feels timeless and personal. “We don’t chase perfection. We follow emotion, trust instinct and let each wedding reveal itself in its most honest form.”
