Now I\u2019m less interested in surface-level answers and more focused on why someone has a certain dating history. Like if they\u2019ve had commitment issues, I want to know why.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She pauses, then adds: \u201cIt\u2019s also important to take things slow. I integrated Kal into my family, friends and day-to-day life too soon because I genuinely believed he was the one. Going forward, I\u2019ll be more cautious.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, Sarover admits she values traditional qualities in a partner. \u201cI do want someone who can protect and provide. But I\u2019ve learnt that shouldn\u2019t come at the cost of losing my voice. We connected on shared experiences and I opened up about things I wouldn\u2019t even talk about with relatives, like my parents\u2019 divorce. There was no judgement, just care. That\u2019s how I knew Kal was different. I believed we were building something real.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their shared values, cultural respect, and the ease with which he fit into her family life made saying \u2018yes\u2019 feel natural. \u201cAt the altar, I genuinely thought I was saying yes to my forever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">The Pain of Being Blindsided<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But forever came crashing down after just three months of marriage. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t the timing, it was the way it happened,\u201d Sarover recalls. \u201cI never saw it coming. Not once did Kal bring up any issues during our marriage. He always reassured me he loved me and that this was forever. There was no distance, no warning signs. Then one morning, out of nowhere, he tells me it\u2019s over before heading to the gym. I was numb. Completely blindsided.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hardest part was processing the shock in silence. \u201cFor weeks I wasn\u2019t functioning. I wasn\u2019t eating, barely sleeping. I found it so hard to navigate the anxiety, the depression, the numbness. I\u2019m lucky to have a strong support system around me. My family and friends stepped in, and therapy helped me through. Sarover calls that moment one of the hardest. \u201cIt was cruel. He knew my boundaries, he knew my love language, and he respected it at the time. To throw that on me on a public platform for millions to witness felt like another betrayal. That wasn\u2019t just unfair, it was humiliating.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">On Love, Redefined<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, has her definition of love changed? \u201c100 percent. Before, I thought love was someone who provides stability and ticks cultural boxes. Now I know it\u2019s about the soul. Love has no boundaries. It\u2019s not about money, looks or status. It\u2019s about how someone makes you feel seen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">On Culture, Closure and Self-Discovery<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a 30-year-old South Asian woman, Sarover knows the weight of cultural expectations. \u201cThere\u2019s so much pressure, people think if you\u2019re not married by 30, life is over. But it\u2019s not. Divorce isn\u2019t the end of your story. If anything, it\u2019s the start of living life on your own terms. You need to put your happiness first. One chapter may close, but there\u2019s always a new one waiting. I\u2019ve seen a whole new version of life, and I\u2019m excited for what lies ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surprisingly, the show itself offered her a form of closure. \u201cThe love and support pouring in from the public has been a source of strength. It gave me perspective. They saw things I\u2019d ignored, pointed out red flags I didn\u2019t want to admit. People reminded me I was enough, even if my marriage wasn\u2019t.
