And that\u2019s fine. I\u2019d still do it all again because the confidence and self-worth I gained? And while initial attraction mattered, Stephen was, in her words, \u201ctall and fabulous\u201d, it was personality, or the glaring lack of it, that ultimately shaped her experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Red flags appeared fast, especially when Steven crossed lines she wouldn\u2019t tolerate. \u201cHe called me a fucking idiot and raised his voice,\u201d she recalls. \u201cI wanted to walk out, but at that moment, I didn\u2019t have the confidence. That connection simply wasn\u2019t there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What viewers saw barely scratched the surface. \u201cI was constantly trying to understand him, begging for clarity, using my empathy to make it work,\u201d she explains. \u201cBut what people didn\u2019t see were the screenshots, the truth bombs, the gaslighting\u2026 him making me believe he was committed, then sleeping with his ex. It was a lot to process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then came the Hinge revelation. \u201cFinding out he was still on Hinge felt like a punch to the gut. It made me question everything, his honesty, his intentions, even my own judgment. But it was a turning point. I had to set boundaries and, most importantly, trust myself above anyone else\u2019s narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tension didn\u2019t stop there. Nelly clashed off camera with Julia Ruth. \u201cJulia\u2019s behaviour with Steven was\u2026 confusing, emotional, and exhausting. It made me examine what I\u2019d accept and what I wouldn\u2019t. She isn\u2019t exactly a girl\u2019s girl, so I shouldn\u2019t have been surprised,\u201d she laughs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the chaos, Nelly credits the show\u2019s experts for helping her regain perspective. \u201cPaul Brunson literally shouted at me, saying I\u2019d lost my voice. That was my wake-up call. I realised I couldn\u2019t let history repeat itself. I had to reclaim my power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">From Gaslighting to Social Media Outings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most dramatic moments? Nelly calling out Steven on social media after discovering his ex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t revenge, it was me taking back my power,\u201d she explains. \u201cI\u2019d spent too long questioning myself and trying to make it work. Emotional safety is now non-negotiable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want a partner who lets me be myself, to open up without walking on eggshells,\u201d she says firmly. And while she\u2019s still single, she\u2019s unapologetically thriving. \u201cI don\u2019t even care if someone doesn\u2019t come along tomorrow.
