What happens when a wedding décor maven becomes the bride? You get a celebration where every petal is purposefully placed, every colour carefully curated and every moment designed to perfection. For Taral Jadhav Shetty, founder of Mumbai’s coveted Do It Up event and interior design firm, her own nuptials with Pranav Jadhav Shetty became the ultimate canvas to create a love story painted in blooming gardens, heritage charm and cross-continental romance that would make even the most seasoned wedding professional weep with joy.
After orchestrating over 1,000 events and transforming countless venues into fairytale destinations, Taral faced her most personal project yet. “I live in the world of vision boards and floral installations,” she reflects. “Being a wedding designer myself, I have created hundreds of mood boards over the last few years, with each wedding Do It Up executed, I often wondered when it came to my own wedding what would it be like.” A dream wedding on the hills is what she envisioned when the time came.
The revelation came with characteristic clarity. “Why should I look at mine being one as ‘different’ from the ones I was doing professionally. In fact, it should be a signature Do It Up wedding with elements that feel and stand out as ‘our aesthetic’,” she shares. What emerged was a masterclass in wedding design, where her professional expertise met profound personal meaning, creating a celebration that was both visually spectacular and deeply intimate. The process began with her signature methodology to “begin with a concept for each proceeding to multiple recces with the design teams, production and floral teams for space planning, element detailing and finally sampling before the events,” she reveals.
When Two Worlds Collide

Everything was planned to military precision, yet Taral and Pranav’s meet cute was anything but. “We come from two different worlds,” reflects Taral, who confesses to be “a chirpy, outgoing person who wants to make the most of my life, while Pranav is a simple, introvert and ‘proper’ boy.” Their love story began on a dating app where “people with zero common circles meet.” What started as three texts evolved into a two-hour call. The date was January 31, 2021 and fate couldn’t have orchestrated worse timing. Pranav, a strategy consultant with Boston Consulting Group, was preparing to embark on his European adventure, first to pursue a masters degree in France, then to work in Germany. Meanwhile, Taral was in the thick of launching Do It Up during the pandemic’s chaos.
“What followed were a series of missed chances and wrong timings,” Taral recalls. Their paths would cross again serendipitously at a restaurant in Mumbai in November 2022, leading to “hours and hours of video calls every day” before they officially began dating on May 15, 2023—the date that would later become their wedding day. The following two years their bond strengthened despite being in a long-distance relationship. “We moved heaven and earth to spend time together across continents and multiple cities in India and in Europe,” Taral shares. When Pranav finally returned to India for Diwali 2024, the stage was set for their dream “hill-station summer wedding, surrounded by the closest 100 people in our lives, under the open skies.”
A Designer’s Own Dream

When it came to her own big day, Taral had a unique perspective on planning. “I wanted the whole experience to feel as easy and homely as possible but also wanted to curate it down to every detail, to a point where even my pandit sent me his outfit options,” she laughs. Her vision centred around “blooming gardens—the best fit for also the context of our venue Welcomhotel The Savoy,” with each event featuring different colour palettes and textures that would complement the heritage property’s natural beauty.

Yet even for a seasoned professional, challenges arose. “While designing my own wedding in the hills was a dream come true, I also faced a challenge with finding the right fit for my floral vendor. Florals are a big part of our design and I just could not take a chance with this.” The solution came from her trusted Mumbai florist who reassured her: “It’s a wedding in our family, why would we not, we will figure this don’t worry.” True to their word, a tempo and team of florists departed from Mumbai for their first destination wedding, bringing Taral’s vision to life in the hills of Mussoorie. The festivities unfolded like a perfectly choreographed dance across four magical events, starting with pre-wedding events.
The Mehndi

The vibrant mehndi on May 11, 2025 was held at the bride’s childhood home in Navi Mumbai, “where I grew up because before I started my new journey and bid goodbye to the most special place, I wanted to celebrate and reminisce over my journey with 15 of my family and friends here.” Every element was rooted in tradition, including Taral’s outfit. “I wore my mother’s rani pink sari with traditional jewellery, honouring my Maharashtrian roots.”

“For the setup, I chose a variety of Indian flowers in hues of pink purple and orange, which hung from my entire living room ceiling and also had a wooden partition as the backdrop for my main seating. I wanted the decor to complete the nature of the event but not overpower the space by adding too many elements as it was still my home.”
The Haldi

The other pre-wedding celebrations moved to the property in Mussoorie. The Nursery Glass House served as the perfect venue for the haldi on May 14, which Taral transformed into a vision of “soft blush pinks and butter yellows, steering away from the conventional genda phool. Keeping it minimal, we had a swing photo op, a garden of flowers as the main backdrop for the ceremony and delicate florals hung from the ceiling. Our first ceremony was nothing short of magical.”

The bride wore a pre-draped sari by Mahima Mahajan for an effortless look, while the groom matched her in a powder blue kurta set.
The Sangeet

Ditching conventional sangeets, the cinephile couple went with a late sundowner flowing into a Bollywood glam night. “Being total Bollywood buffs, it was Pranav and my favourite event. We had curated an event full of dancing, fun interactions hosted not by an emcee but by both of our best friends.” Complementing the vibe was the al fresco lawns that were transformed into “a red enchanted forest-like celebration with over 2,000 candles, cascading florals, and mirror tables. The backdrop featured a candle wall with ‘This night, Our story’, a personal quote from Pranav.”

The bride dressed to impress in a mermaid cut lehenga in a classic red with sequins work by Seema Gujral. The groom cut a dapper figure in a black bandhgala.

The most memorable moment for Taral was watching her father cry, “not because he was sad but with just how emotional and difficult this was for him since I’m the first child. After my performance, he hugged me really tight and I realised how hard it was going to be to not live with my parents.”
The Wedding

The big day was a pastel wonderland set against Mussoorie’s ethereal backdrop, featuring a delicate dome mandap, custom curved aisle and floral-adorned grand staircase. Personal touches included their photographs displayed for guests to witness their path to love. “Pictures have always held a special place for me. Hence, I chose to incorporate the our individual journeys along with pictures that Pranav and I had taken that led to us getting married.”

Taral’s bridal wardrobe was a careful curation of tradition and modernity. Her wedding lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani in pastel pink was “the very first one we finalized out of all my outfits. And once we did, the rest of the details including décor themes and guest wardrobe was finalized accordingly.” She worked with her mother and Gehna Jewellers to create a bespoke wedding jewellery set designed from scratch. Renowned bridal makeup artist Shradha Luthra created Taral’s bespoke beauty look. “She and her team Glamm Squad By Shradha Luthra executed a combination of traditional and modern looks. She totally put me at such ease and the team dolled me up perfectly for my most special days.”

Beneath the dome mandap, surrounded by the sacred scent of jasmine and roses, Taral and Pranav exchanged their heartfelt vows in a ceremony that was both serene and deeply spiritual. The Saptapadi (seven steps around the sacred fire) bound them not just as husband and wife, but as equal partners embarking on life’s journey together, their commitment witnessed by loved ones and blessed by ancient traditions.

Among the many thoughtful details, Pranav’s wedding gift to Taral stood out. He had planned an original composition by Adarsh Rao dedicated to his bride. “He worked with the team closely to compose original lyrics almost two months before our wedding,” she reveals. “This is the very song that was played for my bridal entry.”
Cherished Moments

The post-ceremony toasts and speeches became the highlight of their celebration. “A handful of our closest rose to the occasion and had prepared the most heartfelt toasts for us both. It brought out the most nostalgic and fond memories we have had with our loved ones,” Taral reflects. “It was the perfect end to what can only be described as a dream wedding—a celebration of love, history, family, and every detail I ever hoped for.”
