Decoding YouTuber Prajakta Koli And Vrishank Khanal’s Custom Wedding Wardrobe By Anita Dongre

Where most content creators present that Pinterest-worthy life as a roadmap to go viral on social media, Prajakta Koli, better recognised by her digital moniker @MostlySane, has used her platform to show her relatable, most authentic side. Sparking humour and spotlighting social causes for her 16 million plus followers on Instagram and YouTube, the influencer and actor has created a niche for herself. Prajakta used the same blueprint—to be genuine and herself—for her big day yesterday. Surrounded by family and close friends, Prajakta married her long-time beau Vrishank Khanal in a private ceremony in Karjat, Maharashtra.

Oleander Farms, with its lush lawns and lakes, was chosen as the venue for the destination wedding. Among the some of the renowned attendees were actress Mithila Palkar, comedian Mallika Dua, chef Saransh Golia and entrepreneurs Nikhil Taneja. Everything, from the nature-inspired décor to custom menu, was thoughtfully curated by the couple to reflect their journey. The super personalized ceremony was also officiated by a female pandit at the bride’s behest.

Much like every element, the duo’s dreamy wedding wardrobe was hyper personal with several special, sentimental touches. To bring her breathtaking bridal trousseau to life, she enlisted couturier her favourite couturier, Anita Dongre. “I only had to be an Anita Dongre bride,” shared Prajakta.

Prajakta and Vrishank’s mehndi looks

The two-day long celebrations began with a vibrant mehndi ceremony. The theme for the occasion, held poolside, was all about that raw, organic look. Lots of genda flowers, Ikat prints, clay pots and a colour scheme of orange, green, rust and beige created that earthy story. The wooden pillars with jharokas made it feel like a backyard celebration, for which Prajakta wore an emerald green set by Anita Dongre that mirrored the theme and the bride’s personality. It consisted of an ankle length skirt and waist coat, intricately handcrafted and hand embroidered by the artisans of SEWA (Self-Employed Women’s Association)—a women-led cooperative founded in 1972, that empowers artisans through sustainable livelihoods, while preserving India’s rich textile and embroidery traditions.

Called the Flora Forest Skirt Set, the silk creation came adorned with exquisite hand embroidery inspired by the flora and fauna of the forest. “Each motif was meticulously crafted over months by SEWA artisans, blending tradition with timeless artistry. She paired her look with Anita Dongre’s signature jewellery—modern heirlooms designed for the woman who embraces her roots with a contemporary aesthetic,” the couturier shared. “A few years ago, I did a campaign with Anita and told her: ‘Whenever I get married, I want to wear this lehenga’. And about a month into my engagement in November 2023, I went to the Anita Dongre Rewild fundraiser at the City Palace in Jaipur and we spoke about it. Anita was most gracious she made a custom piece for me,” Prajakta revealed.

Vrishank complemented her in a Tree Greens Embroidered Silk Nehru Jacket Set by Anita Dongre, featuring intricate zardozi and threadwork embroidery on silk, echoing nature’s effortless beauty through impeccable craftsmanship.

Prajakta and Vrishank’s wedding outfits

The wedding ceremony, hosted under a tree, was pure elegance. The serene, open-air setting allowed the beauty of the outdoors to frame every moment naturally and effortlessly. The bride ditched tried-and-tested look for a custom pale gold lehenga. Her outfit, detailed with delicate green leaf embroidery, became the inspiration for the décor that was mirrored as design on the walkway aisle flooring, creating a beautiful connection between her attire and the surroundings.

“Her Parijat Hand-Painted Pichhwai Lehenga by Anita Dongre was an artistic tribute to the 400-year-old Pichhwai tradition. Hand-painted by master artisans, the silk lehenga blooms with delicate Parijat flowers, a heartfelt nod to the bride’s name. Crafted with 16 intricately embroidered kalis, the ensemble is a masterpiece of heritage and handwork, blending centuries-old artistry with contemporary elegance,” revealed the designer. “When I went to her studio, she asked me what do you have in mind. The only thing I told her is that I don’t want to be a red lehenga bride. She showed me this gold lehenga with Pichwai paintings, which is done by artists in Jaipur who also work for the City Palace. Then I saw the paintings on the lehenga, and I see these white flowers with red centres which are Parijat flowers which is what my name means. The lehenga already had Parijat flowers that she wanted me to wear. When I saw it, I got goosebumps. I told her, I didn’t go to find the lehenga, the lehenga found me,” Prajakta added.

Vrishank opted for the Flowers of Mist Hand-Embroidered Silk Sherwani by Anita Dongre, a regal ensemble featuring nature-inspired motifs in delicate tone-on-tone embroidery. Crafted in silk, the sherwani showcased timeless sophistication with exquisite threadwork, bringing together heritage craftsmanship and understated elegance.
